The Climate & Nature Emergency
We are facing a climate emergency!
Climate breakdown affects all of us. From flood-stricken homes in Christchurch and destruction of part of Hurst Castle that guards the Solent, to devastating wildfires in California, extreme weather events are becoming commonplace. And they’re forcing millions of the world’s poorest people from their homes.

We all know about fossil fuels and what our leaders need to do to halt the climate emergency. We are all strong advocates of renewables and of insulation in homes (see our current campaign, United for Warm Homes). We need urgent action now. Time is running out in the fight to protect people and planet.

Locally we know that climate change threatens our coastline with an increasing likelihood that we will see the breach of Hurst Spit. We know that grazing in the New Forest will be threatened and are aware that there are threats to certain species that are climate-vulnerable.

The threat of climate change and concern for the climate and nature emergencies unite us all at New Forest Friends of the Earth. Join us if you have similar concerns.
Learn more about climate change by hosting a fun but informative session of Climate Fresk.

NFDC Corporate Plan
NFDC have just published their new corporate plan, outlining their vision, values and priorities for 2024-2028. The Council states that the plan shows the readiness of the Council to address challenges - and this we hope will include Climate Change.
