Last Saturday, members of New Forest Friends of the Earth joined other other organisations and supporters in RIngwood at the March for Clean Water. We came together to demand urgent action to protect the UK’s rivers and seas from pollution, sewage, and waste - a critical issue affecting public health, wildlife and the future of our natural environment. The key asks of the march were for the government to reform regulations, enforce the law and put a stop to pollution for profit. Our voices are crucial in holding leaders accountable and together we can push for real change.
We have made water pollution a focus for action this year following sewage outfall spilling into local streams in August. When we monitored New Forest streams, rivers and water bodies in September, some streams still had above average lvels of nitrates and phosphates (see previous blogs). . Contact us if you have concerns about water pollution and would like to join us in April for our next round of monitoring.
