The New Forest Friends of the Earth group has won the 2024 Earthmover Award for the contribution to local activism in the making of the quilt for the United for Warm Homes campaign.
The campaign was praised for superb design and fabrication of the quilt which not only involved group members, but brought in other community groups from all walks of life such as schools and preschools, church groups, allotment groups, youth groups, WI, and care homes.
After being on display for our local action in Brockenhurst in November, it went on for national display in Westminster in February where Gill Hickman and Angela Norman attended the presentation of Sir Michael Marmott’s report on the devastating impact of fuel poverty. Gill and Angela were able to gain the attention of Julian Lewis MP who was highly supportive of the cause.
Anna Mellor, one of the many members instrumental in organising the making of the quilt, was presented with the Earthmover Award at the FoE regional groups’ meeting in Brighton.
This is amazing, especially getting the support of Julian Lewis MP! WELL DONE and keep up your endless work for the climate crisis.
